new VCP v8 will support DoIP protocol introduced in MLB-evo (A4 8W, Q7 4M, Q5 FY, new A6 2017, new A8 etc) and soon available in MQB platform.
So you'll be able to "talk" with a car using simple ethernet cable, called ENET - known to many BMW coders, where DoIP is implemented in F10 series ([External Link Removed for Guests])
Please note: smartcard will be still needed , so you'll have to keep v2.0 interfaces connected. But DoIP gives many new possibilities, like Wifi connections (plug ethernet cable to accesspoint with DHCP enabled and voila), direct remote sessions using VPN tunnels, faster data transfers and more.
We plan to introduce the VCP-Web, a Web wrapper, which give an oportunity to control VCP by a web interface and / or fully remote sessions.
